How the reading is made.

Four formulas, one threshold, one source, re-run every day. Enough to trust the number, or to dispute it.

The formulas

Weighting used on the latest reading: Equal weight.

Equal weight

w = 1 ÷ N

Every token that qualifies carries the same weight. N is the number of qualifying tokens that day.

Signed contribution

c = w × r · R = Σ c

A token's 7-day return r times its weight. Losses stay negative. The basket's return R is the sum.

Share of movement

s = |c| ÷ Σ |c|

How much of all the movement, up and down, belongs to one token. A big loser counts as much as a big winner.

Leave one out

R₋ₖ = (R − cₖ) × N ÷ (N − 1)

Lift the top token out, weight the rest equally again, read the basket again. The top-3 reading lifts out three.

Top token

k = the token whose removal moves R most

The top three are the three tokens whose removal moves the reading most.

Share of volume

v = token 24h volume ÷ basket 24h volume

Where the trading actually happens, next to where the return comes from.

Why the basket can fall while one token soars

Equal weight means a token that doubles and a token that halves count the same. One token can soar while the basket still falls, because the rest fell further than it rose.

It works the other way too. One heavy loser can drag a basket that would otherwise be rising below zero, and one runaway winner can lift a falling basket above it. That is why the reading always comes in a pair: with and without the top token.

Which tokens count

  • Traded and pricedA token counts when it traded at least $10,000 in the last 24 hours and has a 7-day return.
  • Excluded, still listedTokens that miss either test stay on the members page, marked Excluded, with the reason when one is recorded.
  • No market capA token with no reported market cap is labelled as such, not hidden.
  • Too small to readIf fewer than 10 tokens qualify, the verdict is replaced by a warning and the without-top-3 reading is hidden.

Source and schedule

  • CoinGeckoPrices, market caps and 24h volumes come from CoinGecko's Robinhood Chain Meme category. Powered by CoinGecko.
  • The whole categoryThe category is read page by page until every token in it is in, so the basket is never cut short.
  • Once a dayThe basket is measured again every day at 15:00 UTC, and the snapshot date is printed next to every reading.
  • DatedLatest data: 00 Sep 0000. A reading older than a day and a half is marked not updated.

Rebuilt days and survivorship

Some early days were rebuilt from the tokens in the basket today, not observed live. Tokens that collapsed and left before then are missing from those days, so rebuilt days tend to look kinder than the market really was.

Rebuilt days are hatched on the history charts and flagged in the daily log. Each day measured live replaces guesswork with an observation.

Factory signals

The factory measures the same narrative on a different basket, with a different formula, against a benchmark. Its signals are frozen at a cutoff and are never the main number here.

The meter says how concentrated one basket's week was. It does not say what to buy, sell or hold, and it does not predict prices. CoinGecko supplies the market data and does not endorse this tool.
